Ginger Thomas is built on two levels with a king size bedroom and full bathroom on each floor. Ginger Thomas has spectacular unobstructed views of the Caribbean waters and neighboring islands, the town of Cruz Bay and the mountains of St. John. It is located on Pocket Money Lane, a private cul-de-sac. The town of Cruz Bay and the ferry dock are .4 miles from the villa. We suggest renting a vehicle to see the island and enjoy town and the beaches.
As you arrive at Ginger Thomas, the lush landscaping welcomes you to your home away from home. The main floor living room is furnished with a queen sleeper sofa and two comfortable chairs. The gourmet kitchen has granite countertops and two bar stools. The main living area leads you through an expansive 18-foot-wide sliding pocket door that opens to the large outdoor living space. A portion of the living space is a covered veranda with a comfortable wicker couch, dining table and a Weber gas grill for your convenience while you enjoy the spectacular sunset with boats sailing in the distance across the Caribbean waters. The other portion of the outdoor living space is uncovered and includes chaise lounges in the sun and a beautiful splash pool on the deck.
On the lower level, via an exterior staircase, French doors lead you to a suite with A/C and a king size bed. The room has a full bath suite and a mini fridge, Smart TV and DVD player.
There is a house generator for any power outages that might occur on island. There is a 50-inch flat screen satellite TV in the living room as well as the lower level. There is also a collection of games and books.
We also provide trash service twice a week. There is no trash removal on St John. Normally all trash must be brought to the local dumpsters on the island.
The property has many amenities such as Starlink Wi-Fi, which is extremely high-speed and always available, Bluetooth speakers, beach chairs, snorkeling gear, UV water purification system, Smart TV's, dishwasher, washer/dryer and A/C in the bedrooms. There is a walking path through the garden around the property.

Beautiful Sunsets with SPECTACULAR VIEWS!
The villa was wonderful and in a most convenient location. It is just straight up the hill from the round about. Karen, the owner was easy to communicate with as well as Jovanna the property manager. We had a couple of maintenance issues and they were handled immediately. The beds are really comfortable and the villa was very clean. We didn’t rent a vehicle but never felt like we needed one. The taxis were always just a text away and were very prompt. I would rent this villa again.
Favorite Villa
This trip was the fourth time staying at Ginger Thomas and Alexandra Cottage. We continue to rent this villa for many reasons. The location just up the hill from the Cruz Bay circle allows you to get anywhere on island quickly. The view from the pool deck is amazing, especially the sunsets! The house itself is well maintained and the kitchen is stocked and ready for you to cook full meals. The grill on the pool deck is also clean and well maintained. Both bedrooms have comfortable king beds and space to move around. Both bathrooms area also very clean and functional. Laundry onsite is also a huge plus! They also offer trash removal onsite, which means you do not have to drive your trash every other day to one of the dump sites on island. We cannot wait to come stay at Ginger Thomas again!
Two couples 5 day getaway
Ginger Thomas did not disappoint. Karen was super responsive from before booking to post trip. The villa was exactly as described and the kitchen was outfitted for anything you would need to cook. We used the grill, the pool and patio post beach day excursions and it was super relaxing. Sunset views at end of the day were fabulous. Beach towels and chairs were great to have. Both bedrooms were nice and beds were very comfy. Steep hill to get up so we would walk down to downtown (so close!) and taxi back up as it was dark and roads were winding. Would’ve bought bags of ice at grocery store to use in cooler each day as it took a while to get a good ice supply going even though ice trays were provided which was nice for afternoon cocktails. Would definitely rent again next year.
A slice of heaven
2 bedroom. Large deck with a pool and amazing views of CRUZ Bay cargo ferry and St. Thomas @ night. Located on a hill close to town, grocery and north beaches. Built on 2 levels. King size bedroom with air conditioner. Fully stocked kitchen. Hosts very responsive.

The only place I would stay when I visit . I have been renting here for last 2 years and would not stay anywhere else . The villa is amazing and location is perfect . Karen and Dan are responsive hosts . Never disappoints

The views from the open outside area are amazing! The pool was a refreshing way to end a day at the beach. The beds are extremely comfortable and each bedroom was nicely air conditioned for sleeping. There was a water cooler which was an added surprise. Would recommend for 2 couples traveling together.

The villa was wonderful starting with the communications to book. Karen was responsive and answered all my questions leading up to the stay. We stayed for a week in March and traveled with another couple. The layout with the downstairs bedroom allowed for the perfect amount of privacy. The attention to detail in the villa was duly noted ; the beach bags and Neso tent were life savers! The spices in the cabinet and baggies/wrap/paper towels were helpful. The large patio overlooking Cruz Bay was the main reason we booked and we spent our time there every evening after our day on one of the many beaches. We can’t wait to come back and stay again!

The perfect villa with an awesome view!
Thank you to our hosts, Karen and Dan! The accommodation was perfect for our family of (5) with older children (17, 19, 22). The view of Cruz Bay is spectacular. Ginger Thomas came with every amenity needed for a stay away from home. The location is situated close to downtown Cruz Bay yet far enough away to feel like you are in the countryside. The deck and pool are ideal for hosting a barbecue or family party. Ginger Thomas helped make our first visit to St John a memory to last a lifetime.

Unbelievable view
We loved our stay at Ginger Thomas. The view from the back patio is incredible. There are beautiful trees on either side. You can lay on the lounge chairs and see multiple Caribbean islands and good star gazing at night. My kids loved having the pool available whenever they felt like swimming. It was also great for kids to practice snorkeling in before going to the beach. One of these outdoor furniture sets is falling apart needs to be replaced. The rest of the furniture and nlbeds were all comfortable and in good shape. There's a lot of great wildlife we saw at the villa like donkeys, lizards, and hummingbirds. I think the villa could use a more secure trash can though since a local donkey knocked it over twice and ate out of the garbage. The location is conveniently close driving distance to all the Cruz Bay shops and restaurants. It's not a realistic walk for everyone though due to the elevation. But the elevation is why the views are so incredible. I highly recommend Ginger Thomas villa for anyone including families with children.

It was ordered well before Christmas but took a long time to arrive on island so our apologies for not having it in time for your stay. The trash service we have is an extra perk we provide as there is no trash service on the island. (just dumpsters throughout). The donkeys are not usually in Cruz Bay! That being said, this has happened twice now so we are hoping to be able to provide another pickup per week. Hope to host you again sometime soon!
My favorite villa
This is the ideal villa for two couples or a group of friends. It is super easy to get to from Cruz Bay, and has a decent driveway. The beds are SO comfy, unlike just about every other rental I have ever stayed at. The pool and outdoor living space are perfect for watching and listening to St John wake up in the morning. And it is a great space to unwind after a beach or boat day. The entire villa is well maintained and cared for and just has great vibes. They also provide beach chairs, and snorkel gear!
About host
We fell in love with St John on our first trip in Aug 2017. On the third day of vacation, we looked at each other and said "We must come back here as soon as we can" and then we asked ourselves "Do you think we could live here?" Hurricanes Irma and Maria hit soon after that and we fell even more in love after witnessing the tight knit community come together to recover and help one another. We knew this was where we belonged. We sold our house in New England and moved full time to the island in August 2021. We are home.
